Is your child struggling in their current school environment? Are you concerned about the values being taught (or not taught) in the classroom? If you're considering a mid-year enrollment change, Liberty Christian School in Huntington Beach welcomes families who are ready to make the switch to a Christ-centered education.
Why Families Consider Switching Schools Mid-Year
The decision to transfer schools during the academic year isn't made lightly. Families come to us at various points throughout the school year for compelling reasons that can't wait until next fall. Some parents realize their child is getting lost in overcrowded classrooms where teachers don't have time to provide individual attention. Others discover a disconnect between their family's values and what their child encounters daily at school. Some students face social challenges that make their current environment unhealthy. Other families move to the area and want to find the right educational fit quickly.
Whatever brings you to consider private school transfer options, Liberty Christian School has been welcoming mid-year students for over fifty years. We understand that sometimes the right time to make a change is right now.

What Makes Liberty Christian Different
When families visit our Huntington Beach campus, they consistently comment on the atmosphere. It's the combination of Christ-centered focus, genuine care for students, and commitment to academic excellence.
Small Classes, Big Impact
Our 15:1 student-to-teacher ratio means your child won't be anonymous. Every teacher knows every student by name. As one parent shared: "Even after 6 years of being a part of Liberty's family, it always amazes me how every teacher and office staff knows each child personally and by name."
This personalized attention allows teachers to identify when students need extra help or additional challenges. For families switching schools mid-year, this individualized focus helps new students integrate smoothly and catch up on any learning gaps.
Faith-Integrated Education
At Liberty Christian School, faith isn't compartmentalized into a single religion class. Biblical worldview is woven throughout every subject—from mathematics to science to literature to history. Students learn to think critically about ideas through a Christian lens, developing the spiritual foundation that will guide them throughout life.
We use quality curriculum from Bob Jones University, Positive Action, Savvas, and McGraw Hill. Our elementary students benefit from enrichment programs including ASL, library time, music, choir, band, and physical education. High school students have access to dual enrollment opportunities and project-based learning.
College Preparation with Purpose
Liberty Christian School maintains WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) accreditation, ensuring our graduates receive a nationally recognized education. Our academic program follows California State Standards and UC a-g requirements.
Over ninety-five percent of our graduates pursue higher education, with approximately half attending four-year universities. Our graduates have earned competitive scholarships and military appointments.
The Mid-Year Transfer Process
We've designed our Christian school admission process to be straightforward and welcoming for families joining us mid-year.
Step 1: Schedule Your Campus Tour

Contact us at (714) 842-5992 or through our contact page to schedule your visit.
Step 2: Complete the Application
The application process includes:
- Downloading and completing the appropriate application for your child's grade level
- Submitting the application with the registration fee
- Providing current transcripts or report cards
- Including copies of any IEP documents if applicable
- Scheduling your family interview with administration
For mid-year enrollments, we work efficiently to process applications so your child can start as soon as possible.
Step 3: Entrance Testing and Interview
All incoming students complete entrance testing to help us understand their current academic level and place them appropriately. Students entering seventh through twelfth grade also participate in an interview with administration. The entrance testing is included in your application fee.
Step 4: Academic Integration Planning
When students join Liberty mid-year, we ensure smooth academic integration by reviewing transcripts, assessing current academic levels, identifying areas needing additional support, and creating a plan for success from day one.
Our small class sizes make this transition easier than in larger school settings. Teachers provide extra attention to help new students adjust to our curriculum approach.
Step 5: Welcome to the Liberty Family
Once enrolled, we focus on helping your child—and your whole family—feel welcomed. New students are introduced to classmates, connected with student leaders, and supported by teachers who understand that switching schools mid-year requires adjustment.
Academic Support for Mid-Year Transfers
Liberty Christian School has successfully integrated countless mid-year transfer students over our fifty-plus years of operation.
How We Support Academic Transitions
Individual Assessment: Through entrance testing and transcript review, we get a clear picture of your child's current level in each subject area.
Customized Support: If we identify learning gaps, we address them. Our teachers work with students individually to provide needed support. For students requiring more extensive assistance, our L.E.A.R.N. Academy offers specialized services.
Flexible Pacing: Our approach allows us to meet students where they are academically, accommodating varying ability levels across different subjects.
Communication with Families: We partner with parents throughout the transition, keeping you informed about your child's adjustment.
Curriculum Compatibility
Our curriculum uses materials from Bob Jones University, Positive Action, Savvas, and McGraw Hill, reputable publishers used by many schools. Our California State Standards-aligned approach means students are covering the same core content, with Biblical worldview integration.
For high school students, our UC a-g approved courses ensure that credits earned at Liberty will transfer seamlessly to colleges and universities.
Community Integration
Academic integration is crucial, but so is social integration. We want every new student to feel like they belong at Liberty Christian School.
How We Welcome New Students
Small School Advantage: In our environment, new students are noticed, welcomed, and included. Teachers and staff quickly learn new students' names and help them navigate their new environment.
Shared Values: Because Liberty families share similar values and faith commitments, new students often find it easier to make friends here. The common ground of Christian faith creates natural connection points.
Abundant Opportunities: From athletics to clubs to special events, Liberty offers many ways for students to get involved. We offer speech and debate club, chess club, YouTube club, creative writing club, and student government. Athletic opportunities begin in fourth grade and continue through high school.
Welcoming Culture: As one graduate reflected: "Liberty Christian is a school which effectively encourages kindness and a relationship with God. The LCS community is very welcoming and gives everyone a strong sense of belonging."
Practical Considerations
When Can My Child Start?
We accept mid-year enrollments throughout the school year. The enrollment process typically takes a few weeks. Once accepted, students can begin as soon as the start of the next week or at a natural transition point like after a holiday break.
Tuition and Financial Considerations
Mid-year enrollment doesn't mean paying a full year's tuition. We prorate tuition based on when your child joins us. Our standard payment structure divides tuition into eleven monthly payments from July through May, managed through Blackbaud Tuition. See our Tuition and Fees page for updated costs.
Registration fees apply for all new students and include entrance testing. Families with multiple children benefit from our multi-child discount of $50 per child on registration fees.
We offer scholarships and tuition assistance for qualifying families. Contact our office at (714) 842-5992 to discuss your specific situation confidentially.
Required Documentation
To complete enrollment, we'll need current transcripts or report cards, immunization records, any IEP or 504 plan documentation if applicable, and emergency contact information.
